Willowhush is built so there is as little to say here as possible: the app doesn't have accounts, doesn't track you, and doesn't collect anything from the child listening. This page explains exactly what that means.
1 Overview
This policy covers the Willowhush app (the "App"), available on the Apple App Store. It applies to anyone who downloads or uses the App — in practice, the parent or guardian who sets it up, and the child who listens.
The short version: the App has no user accounts, no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking software of any kind, and no way for a child to enter personal information into it. What little the App does store, it stores only on your own device.
2 Information we collect
We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information through the App. There is no sign-up, login, or profile of any kind.
The App does not use advertising SDKs, does not use third-party analytics or behavioral-tracking software, and does not sell or share data with data brokers or advertisers — because it collects none to begin with.
3 What stays on your device
To make the App work well, a small amount of information is saved locally on your phone using standard iOS app storage. This never leaves your device and is never sent to us:
Which stories you've marked as favorites
Recently played stories and where playback last stopped
Your chosen ambient sound and sleep-timer settings
Stories and soundscapes you've downloaded for offline listening
A cached copy of the story catalogue, so the App still works without a signal
Deleting the App from your device deletes this information along with it.
4 Children's privacy
Willowhush is designed to be listened to by children and operated by an adult. There are no accounts, no chat or messaging features, no user-generated content, and no way for a child to type, upload, or submit anything through the App — so there is no mechanism by which the App could collect personal information from a child in the first place.
COPPA. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information through some channel outside the App itself (for example, by email), contact us using the details below and we will delete it.
5 How story content is delivered
The App's story catalogue and ambient sounds are stored in a hosted database so new stories can be added without an App Store update. When the App fetches the current catalogue, that request does not carry your name, account, or any identifying information — it's the same request every copy of the App makes.
6 Subscriptions and payment
Premium subscriptions are billed entirely through your Apple ID via the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your payment card details, billing address, or Apple ID password — that information is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
7 Third-party services
Two outside services are involved in running the App, and neither receives personal information about you or your child:
Supabase — hosts the story catalogue and audio files.
Apple — processes subscription payments and delivers the App itself.
The App does not include any advertising network, analytics SDK, or other third-party tracking software.
8 Data retention and deletion
Because we don't collect personal information on our servers, there is nothing tied to you for us to retain or delete beyond what's described above. Anything saved locally on your device is removed the moment you delete the App.
9 Age-verification laws
Some states (including Texas, Utah, and Louisiana, with more following) now require apps to declare an age bracket for their content. Willowhush does this through the App Store's own age-rating system rather than by collecting identity documents or verified age data from you — consistent with everything else on this page, we simply don't collect that information.
10 Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted within the App.
